The monasteries in the Neamţ area persist as if they have always existed. Starting from the oldest monastery in Moldova, the Neamţ Monastery, built in the 14th century by Muşatini and continuing with the Bistriţa Monastery, founded by Alexandru cel Bun in the 14th century, we find in this fairy-tale land the story the beginnings of Romanian monasticism. Neamţ County is the cradle of the Romanian folk culture. Over the years, from the talent, spiritual beauty and diligence of the inhabitants emerged many customs, traditions and crafts.
